Taize leader urges church unity
10,000 Villages sale
As we enter 2008, we are encouraged to again renew our covenant (relationship) with God.  This Sunday the 6th we will share in a time of covenant renewal and focus on where we are headed this year as a church on a mission.

I want to thank Karen Hodge our secretary (but really the Congregational Life Coordinator) and Rich Herbruck our bldg and grounds coordinator who do a wonderful job of keeping things flowing and coordinated around our congregation.  Also, thanks to Karen Myers and Rick Sonnecken who volunteer to do our Sunday computer and sound tech work.  Karen spends a lot of time each week in preparing the service.  Thanks to our music director Steve Rhinesmith and the group of volunteers he leads as our BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) Band who include Sara Watkins, Helen Franks, Bob Zollars, and Jim Davis.  Joining them in 2008 are Brian Communale and Ryan Cox.  They too spend a lot of time in weekly preparation.

I have adjusted my Friday time at the Nervous Dog Coffee Bar to 1:30 to 4:30 pm.  Feel free to drop in during that time at 1530 West Market Street for coffee and conversation.

A blessed new year,
David Loar, Pastor

KAT raises gifts for Heifer International
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heifer InternationalThe KAT (Kids Alternative Time during the 9:30 am Sunday service) has raised $216.00 from their projects after the worship services in December.  They have sold hard boiled egg chicks,fish pins, and Christmas cards.  I have never exeperienced such cooperation and motivation from this group than in those three weeks.  All of the children worked so hard on this project and are so proud they are going to be sending several flocks of chicks, fish, and either a cow or a goat to a family who needs them.
They brought in little ark banks that they were filling at home and we will use that money to buy seedlings that will be given to families for planting.
The most important part of this experience is that they have learned the concept of giving and also of "passing on the gift".  Each Heifer recipient must promise to pass on the offspring of their animals to others in their village.
God's blessing has been with us during this project.  I feel it in the KAT KIDS!!
