12 Steps of Recovery

Alcoholics Anonymous or AA, the original 12 Step Recovery program, started here in Akron. The first meeting between the two founders, Bill W and Dr. Bob was at the Gate Lodge at the Stan Hywet mansion which is less than two miles from the Fairlawn-West UCC building.

Celebrate Recovery
This is the 12 Steps of Recovery ministry of Fairlawn-West.  It meets every Wednesday at 7:00 pm and every Sunday at 10:45 am.  Through the 12 Steps, scripture, and experience, strength & hope, we learn how to allow our lives to be transformed by the grace of God in Jesus Christ.  The fellowship of this group and the sponsors or accountability partners who help us to apply the steps and traditions to our daily lives enable us to live more a day at a time what we say we believe.  We use the book
Serenity: A Companion for the Twelve Steps of Recovery. An excellent resource for anyone seeking to develop a daily spiritual life and to know how to work with God in changing and healing your hurts, your hang-ups and your habits.
