Weddings

Weddings, Union Ceremonies and Committal Services are celebrative services of worship to honor and praise God.   Couples will make a covenant (or "share vows") with God and one another to set the direction of their new shared life.  We recognize that there is a certain level of this being a family and friends social gathering, but in the context of a service with a Christian minister/pastor officiating it is more so a gathering of spiritual centering in God.

Our ministry is for both for planning the ceremony and preparation for the new relationship.  Couples will meet with an advisor (pastor or lay) a number of times:

  1. a first time initial visit to get to know one another and talk about the pre-marital process which includes the PREPARE inventory and wedding service
  2. one or more times to review and discuss the results of the couples' PREPARE inventory
  3. one time to plan the service

Couples who are not part of the life of Fairlawn-West are encouraged to come to be a part of at least one of our worship services.  Having a sense of the mission and vision of our church is helpful to understand who we are and what is the foundation of how we approach a wedding ceremony.  We do not rent out our building for weddings not connected with our wedding and marriage preparation ministry.  PLEASE check out these links!

Alison Oswald is our Ceremony Assistant

Please contact the church office initially to see about scheduling an initial visit with the Pastor.  You may tentatively schedule the date of your ceremony with the Office Coordinator, but it will not be finalized until you have had the initial visit with the Pastor.
